I felt this way about Beetlejuice 2, and I might be the only one who doesn’t love it as much as the first. I’m just so obsessed with and attached to the original. Like you mentioned, I’m hoping the writers stick to the script on this one and capture all the vibes the first movie had.

I know right?! And Hocus Pocus 2 was…not great either.

lol I loved it! I think because it was diverse and I loved the modern twist. Not like the 1st but somehow part 2 for me it held up in its own. Beatle Juice 2 was way too overstimulating for my Nero brain… I didn’t like the musical parts as it ruined it for me.

I agree with you completely here! I think whatever happens with the sequel, a good number of us will be whimsigoth'd up and aunts the new generation of PM witches ✨

Absolutely agree with this sentiment and feelings. I still have not brought myself to watch either Hocus Pocus 2 or Beetlejuice 2. I don't know if I can, or ever will. It's too cringe. I'd have to do what I do with the creepy parts of horror movies and watch the entire thing through my fingers, asking my husband to tell me when the bad parts are over. I fear the ruination of my most beloved childhood witchy memories. I was the same age you were when Practical Magic came out, and it's still my #1 dream of owning a victorian house on the rocky shore of a New England town someday. I dunno.. if you watch it, maybe I can bring myself to watch it too. Witchy early-teenagehood solidarity. ..I'll try!

I'm curious as to whether they'll follow the plot of the book's sequel or create something new. Personally I'm more excited than nervous- I fell in love with 90s witch media over the last couple of years as someone born in 2000, who didn't grow up it it like Practical Magic, The Craft, Charmed, and even Kiki's Delivery Service (technically 80s) so I really want anything with similar vibes, even if it's not perfect!
